FUE HAIR TRANSPLANTATION
FUE: Follicular Unit Excision:
The extraction of hair follicular units, or grafts, one by one.
Under local anaesthesia, grafts are first removed from the back and sides of the nape of the neck, which are resistant to hormonal influences and therefore do not fall out during life.
Mechanical graft removal is performed using small diameter cylindrical needles called punch needles with a diameter between 0.7-1.0 mm. We then create narrow, micro-scars in the hairless, bald area, where the grafts are implanted using special implants with diameters equal to or smaller than the diameter of the special punch needles. The implants will adhere and later grow back as they were in their original location.
PRE-OPERATIVE ACTIVITIES
Avoid drinking alcohol and smoking in the days before surgery. The day before surgery, it is recommended that you get a restful night’s sleep.
On the day of FUE hair transplantation, it is recommended to wash the hair, have a light breakfast and take the patient’s regular medication. The use of anticoagulant medications requires specific consultation.
ARRIVAL
We will be waiting for you at our institute at a pre-arranged appointment. Please bring your completed test results with you. You can relax in our comfortable patient room, where you can get ready for the procedure in a relaxed atmosphere. After the administrative tasks have been completed, your vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, etc.) will be checked as part of the surgical preparation for the FUE hair transplantation.
ANAESTHESIA
After the scalp has been disinfected, the donor area is anaesthetised using a special needle-free anaesthetic device. A needle-free injection gun is placed on the skin and the active ingredient is injected into the skin using pressure. By using this method, pain is avoided even during the application of the anaesthetic. This means that our patients do not experience any pain before or during the operation!
GRAFT REMOVAL FROM THE DOBOR SITE
During graft harvesting, the patient lies on their stomach and then on their side. This process takes approximately 2-4 hours, with short rest periods as needed. The extracted grafts are counted and grouped according to their hair fibre content.
PLANNING THE LOCATION OF THE GRAFTS TO BE IMPLANTED
In about half an hour, the small openings are made in the hairless area to be transplanted, into which the grafts are inserted. This procedure is also done under local anaesthesia.
LUNCH BREAK
During the lunch break, which lasts approximately half an hour, our patients can comfortably eat the lunch of their choice, which is provided by our clinic.
TRANSPLANTATION OF GRAFTS
After the lunch break, the grafts are implanted in the semi-recumbent position, during which the previously removed grafts are inserted into the prepared openings. This takes approximately 2-4 hours. During this time, the patient has the opportunity to spend time in a comfortable environment, watching movies, shows selected from Netflix, YouTube channels or even playing Playstation games. The total duration of the surgery is usually 6-8 hours, but this depends on the number of grafts to be transplanted.
ADVICE AFTER FUE HAIR TRANSPLANTATION
After post-operative wound cleansing, a dressing is applied to the donor area and the patient wears it when leaving for home. After the FUE hair transplantation, we will provide you with general and detailed head care advice and any necessary therapy.
When is the method not recommended?
FUE hair transplantation is an effective and very popular procedure, but there are some diseases and conditions for which it is not recommended or only recommended to a limited extent. These may include:
- scalp diseases;
- infectious diseases;
- autoimmune diseases;
- chronic diseases;
